TIPS & GUIDES

No-sew curtains: upcycle leftover fabric with style and ease

Small budget, big impact

No need to be a sewing expert to create beautiful curtains. With a few clip-on curtain rings, some leftover home textile fabric, and a touch of creativity, you can turn any fabric remnant into a boho-style curtain effortlessly and without stitching.

This easy system works with any curtain rod and makes it simple to swap out fabrics with the seasons or whenever you feel like refreshing your space. A flexible and sustainable way to dress your windows with personality.

Upcycling scraps: a simple, creative gesture

At Susty, we believe in the endless potential of existing materials. Upcycling your leftover fabric is not only eco-friendly it’s also beautiful. A curtain made from a striking remnant can become a statement piece in the room.

No need for perfect hems: the slightly raw, frayed edge adds character and charm. Add a few pompoms, tie the ends, or let the fabric flow freely for a natural, boho-chic effect.

Measuring made easy

➤ Width: go for volume
To achieve a nice, gathered effect, always plan more fabric than the actual width of your window.

Example:
If your window is 1.5 meters wide, you’ll need 3 to 3.75 meters of fabric total (2 to 2.5 times the width).
Split this length into two equal panels for a balanced look.

➤ Height: soften the fall
Measure from the top of the curtain rod to your desired stopping point (windowsill or floor).
Add 5 to 10 cm for the clip height and to soften the visual line.
For a boho, laid-back feel, let the curtain break slightly on the floor (+15 cm).

The fabric you choose makes all the difference

Curtains aren't just accessories they define the atmosphere of a room.

  • In a living room: go for soft tones, clean stripes, or graphic patterns.

  • In a bedroom: choose denser fabrics to dim the light, in powdery or natural shades.

  • In a kitchen or office: feel free to use bold colors like orange, green, or yellow for a lively energy.

Match your curtains with the overall palette walls, flooring, and furniture. A smart fabric choice can completely change the feel of a room.
