DIY Tutorial: Make a Roman Shade in 5 Steps

1. Choose your type of blind

Different styles exist:

• Roman shade: elegant and timeless, with neat folds.

• Roller blind: minimalist, rolls around a tube.

• Venetian blind: adjustable slats in wood, aluminum or PVC.

• Pleated blind: graphic, folds like an accordion.

2. Measure & cut

• Measure window width and height.
• Add 2 cm seam allowance on each side.
• Cut your fabric (linen, cotton, upcycled jacquard…).

3. Prepare the fabric

• Sew a double hem along the edges.
• Add lining for opacity or insulation if needed.
